Although business are complex, it is often surprising to see how many Black-box systems exist in an organization. A black-box system refers to a task that has an defined input (for example: receive mail) and an output (example: place in bins) that are tied to a set of well-defined rules:

Example

  1. INPUT: Receive mail
there is information on each piece of mail
  2. RULES: match the name on the mail with the address on the bin
  3. OUTPUT: Place (each piece of) mail in (each) bin Place (each piece of) mail in (each) bin
  4. COMPLETE

Afomi identifies black-box systems in your organization and in software to automate them to the greatest exent possible, so a workers can focus on higher-value tasks; tasks that require human reasoning; work that is more personally interesting, fulfulling, and often more valuable to an organization and society.
